This is a good habit of mostly all the tech giants to make changes in their products and services over the time. Whether it’s WhatsApp, Facebook or any email service provider such as Gmail, we often hear about some new and interesting features.
Well, the main motive of doing such changes is to improve the performance of their service and make it more convenient to users. But, the fact is that not every time users like the new features. I mean, sometimes the new and extra-improved features tease the users in the case if they don’t want to change their experience of using the service.
Long time back, Gmail had modified its inbox into different tabs for different kind of emails to improve the relevancy. And earlier this year Gmail again came with a different look and some new features such as Smarty Reply, Smart Compose, Undo Send etc.
This Undo Send option was earlier available in form of Gmail Labs but now it’s by default active for all the users in Gmail inbox. Well, it’s the great feature I can understand and most of the users across the world praising it. But, when it comes to the Smart Reply and Smart Compose features of Gmail, not everyone is loving it. I even found some people giving the weird statements like:
HOW DO I KILL THIS “SMART REPLY FEATURE”? I hate hate hate this sort of thing. I’m an intelligent human being for God’s sake. I don’t need some piece of AI junk trying to think for me. – Source.
Well, I don’t think that Gmail’s new Smart Reply feature is that bad. Even I used it many times for giving replies on my Gmail and found very helpful.
But, it’s not a problem if you’re not loving this feature because you can turn it off any time you feel it’s not working for you.
To turn off the Smart Reply feature in your Gmail app, open the app and open your account settings where you’ll see this Smart Reply option under General settings. Just turn it off with a single tap! Isn’t it easy?
However, the option to turn it off is only available for Gmail App in smartphones. It’s now not available for desktop version.
According to some reports spreading over the web, it seems that Google is planning to add this ability to turn Smart Replies off even in the desktop. Well, I’m truly not now sure about this news but if you’re pretty sure, you can share your thoughts via comments.
