Facebook has announced a new search engine on Tuesday. Founder and chief executive of Facebook Mark Zukerberg launched Graph search engine in Facebook’s headquarters in California at an event.
Mark Zukerberg told about Graph search engine that “it is not a web search engine like Google”.
It has a limited criteria, means users can search combine phrases in Graph search, like someone wrote ‘best hotels in Mumbai’ or photos of Tajmahal. It will give the result from shared and downloaded items of user’s and their friends.
Mark Zukerberg said that ” we have trillions of users of Facebook and we will arrange 240 billion photos downloaded by users and other stock of Facebook users for Graph search engine.
This search engine of Facebook will really be interesting for people who yawned with Facebook.Until now user can only search for people and their places but with the help of this Graph search engine user can search anything downloaded by FB users.
Even so,it is also integrating Microsoft search engine ‘Bing’ for further search, when Graph engine could not find the results.Graph search will appear on the Facebook page, beside the News feed as a bigger search bar at the top of screen.

Difference between web search and graph search
Web search and Graph search are very different because of the limited criteria of Graph search.
- In Graph search engine, you have to type full phrases like (Full list of my friends),but a web search is designed to take a set of keywords.
- You can not use Graph search engine ,until you are not logging in to the Facebook. But such is not true for web search.
- In Graph search engine ,you can search only items that are downloaded on Facebook by your friends, but web search is designed to provide best possible results of world wide web.
