Nowadays, the most popular product visual type is photography. Product photography uses specific techniques to showcase products in an attractive way and entice potential buyers to purchase specific products.
The perceived value of your products and the trustworthiness of your brand is often judged based on the quality of your visual presentation. That’s the reason you must make high-quality, beautiful product photography as it can go a long way.
Alternatively, retailers choose 3D product visualization, which enables them to showcase their products in more attractive and interactive way. As, with 3D, a new range of experiences are unlocked. Shopify will be updating to offer an in-browser 3D experience—supported in all modern browsers and devices—that allows zooming, spinning, and the inspection of every little detail. In order to deliver photorealistic 3D models at a large scale, Shopify partnered up with 3D product visualization provider CGTrader.
How to Create the Best Quality Product Pictures?
You don’t necessarily need that expensive camera. You don’t need to hire someone for a crazy photoshoot but getting a specific angle of some product that nobody else has already created can make all the difference in your product. It can help so much when you are building a brand with your store vs. just your typical Shopify store with you know the most popular photos that are pretty much on every single major listing for that product, so, here are few things that you should get knowledge about the importance of having your own photos.
Most of the people copy the same product photos from the brands and use them for running ads on Facebook and Instagram. And most of the audience that gets targeted by these ads know the original brand from where the product photo is being sourced. This creates a really bad impact on the audience. And even sometimes I comment on their ads about the real name of the brand where this photo was taken, which is the reason why you should take your own photos even if the photos are taken with an iPhone or an android phone in portrait mode and then edit them with a simple software or hire a freelancer for cheap. Still, the thing is the buyers will get to know that the product is real.
So what I recommend you to do is to take a couple of photos with a regular background that does not have to be an all-white background you can literally just set it up on the table or hold it against the wall or something very simple where the background is not too distracting and then takes a few which are lifestyle photos where someone maybe wearing it maybe you have a dog, and you put it over their paw or in front of them, you just have to take a photo where it relates to, don’t do anything special.
Let’s start the process with some simple tips for clean, clear and effective photographs for you listing,
- A quick clean
You will think these are the most basics, then why include it in the process? But the thing is the basics are the building blocks of an entire process so, by giving the item a quick wipe, clean, or dusting. Digital photos, especially good ones, can magnify any grime!
As we know indoors, lights are especially required for taking the best photos without shadow, flashes, and glare. Natural, outdoor light is often great, which is why so many people love snapping pics outside, but if indoor, we must use two separate sources of light, one on each side, pointing to a 45-degree angle.
- Be aware of using flash
Often, through the flash can create too much light, causing the shadows we are trying to avoid! So, use it at a distance as the flash on your camera can help fill in the light of an image and work beautifully.
- A plain background
Using a solid, light-coloured, neutral background will yield the best results.so, avoid using a patterned or distracting background. In most cases, solid white is optimal.
- Always remove clutter
This is when you can’t take a photo on a plain background, such as bed so here’s where you should try to remove any clutter from the photo
- A Slight angle
For your primary image, photograph the item at a slight angle, which will reveal the depth of the object.
- Close and personal
Include relevant details, such as model numbers, tags, labels, special features, and any notable defects.
- Shoot for the edit
When shooting your product photographs, try to shoot for the edit. With this mindset, you’ll shoot knowing that you plan to do minimal editing that will simply enhance the photograph without completely changing it. This will make for a far more desirable result.
