For fans of technology, traveling has never been better. No longer does going on holiday to another part of the world mean that you have to wave goodbye to all your beloved gadgets, as they’re now compact enough that you can easily take them with you.
Need to do some remote work whilst you sight-see? No problem, you can just pack your lightweight laptop and off you go. Want to take loads of high-resolution photos and videos of the amazing locations you encounter? Absolutely, but instead of having to lug around lots of heavy camera equipment, you can now just use your smartphone.
We’ve even previously given tips about the 25+ most important things to carry while traveling, so make sure to read up on that.
Wondering where to go through? Well, don’t worry as we’re going to show you the most high-tech cities on earth, so you can travel, whilst also marveling at the wondrous technology on offer in these state-of-the-art urban areas.
1. London
England’s grey skied capital may not have the sunny weather of other cities, but it sure does come loaded with tech. Back in 2019, it was announced that thousands of lamp posts all over the city would have mini-masts built into them, which allows for 5G speed access internet to seamlessly be accessed on everyone’s smartphones. No need to worry about your posts showcasing all your adventures taking ages to load up to social media then.
The city also has futuristic ways to get around its sprawling metropolis. Driverless cars have recently arrived in parts of London and though not everyone is happy about it, for us tech-heads, being able to be chauffeured around the city by a self-driving robotic car sounds like heaven.
2. Las Vegas
The city that is known for its love of gambling, and its ability to keep people entertained for as long as possible, has to keep up with new technology. This is so it can keep the millions of visitors that it receives every year suitably wowed. After all, it would be terrible for their tourism if everyone went to The City of Sin and found it incredibly boring.
Some of the city’s most impressive technological features are hotel-based, with most rooms in the largest hotels now being fully automated. This is done by them being linked up to fiber-optic networks, meaning you can change the room’s temperature, customize the brightness of lighting, adjust the curtains, activate the TV or music, all by using one easy-to-use control panel.
It’s not just the hotels though, as the casino floors also feature smart tech that will leave you mesmerized. At the MGM Grand, for example, the slot machines now feature HD screens, where the actual games, odds, and betting limits can all change to match your wants and needs. This also allows you to play multiple games at once on one massive HD screen. Talk about a dopamine rush.
Interestingly, MGM Grand is currently building another hotel in another modern city, Dubai. The Arabic world also has a penchant for gambling, especially online, with websites providing all the top casino games, slot machines, and the best live dealer blackjack casinos for visitors to get stuck into. Arabian Betting also features in-depth information on how to play live blackjack, so their users can fully enjoy the experience of almost being in a casino, without even having to travel to one.
3. Tokyo
Perhaps the first place everyone thinks of when thinking about a high-tech city, Tokyo is the inspiration for many a sci-fi movies skyline. This is the city, after all, that has a museum dedicated to the future. Known as the Miraikan, it’s Japan’s National Museum of Engineering Science and Innovation, and is jam-packed full of technological marvels for you to discover, learn about, and even interact with. In fact, even the island that the museum is located on, Odaiba, which is in Tokyo Bay, is man-made.
If you’re looking to buy some of the most sought-after gadgetry, then Tokyo is also home to the epic Yodobashi Akiba Electronics Department Store. This incredible nine-story department store is famed for selling every kind of electronic device available under the sun. From televisions to computers, robotic pets, and many many more, this technological paradise is a must-visit for anyone with even a passing interest in gadgets.
