There are many social networking sites in the World and all of them use different terms for each special task. For example in Facebook Like term is used to like a post whereas in Twitter Favourite term is used to like a tweet.
In Facebook we call a post a status while in Twitter it is called as tweet. Not only this, there are so many special terms in Twitter that you must know to increase your Twitter productivity.
In this article, I’m going to mention some of the special terms used in Twitter. These terms will definitely open the floodgates to increase your Twitter productivity.
So, have a look on these useful terms in Twitter:
Hash Tag
The # symbol, called a hash tag, is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. It was created organically by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages.
If you’re searching anything on Twitter search bar, then the use of Hash (#) before the keyword can give you most accurate results. When you click on any hash tagged word in your profile will show you all the other tweets marked with that keyword.
Facebook is also using hash tags to separate keywords. You shouldn’t use multiple hash tags (over-tag) in a single tween because if you do so, then that tweet may be marked as spam.

It is the most common term in Twitter which is well known by everybody. But still I mentioned it in the list because it is also very essential term for beginners to know.

The topics which are trending or becoming so popular on Twitter, come under the trends option. Facebook has also start using trending posts.
You may notice that some Trends have # sign before the word or phrase. As I told you already that is hashtag and is included specifically in Tweets to mark them as relating to a topic.
@ (At The Rate)
@ sign works in Twitter as same as in other social networks. It means when you want to add any person to your conversation or in the language of Facebook if you wanna mention anybody in your tweet, you can add @ before his/her name.
The person whom you mentioned in the tweet will receive a notification of your tweet in which he’s added.
Direct Message
I name this term as Private/Personal message. You can send any private message to anybody on Twitter by using the Direct message feature and your message will received by only the person whom you sent it.
