When I took a view over the map of India it was just unbelievable there were several places in India which are incredible. Then I collected information about the top 10 tourist destinations in India.

1. Taj Mahal [Agra, UP]
Taj Mahal is a white marble memorial that was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaj Mahal. The name Taj Mahal was put after her name. Mumtaj was Shah Jahan’s third wife. She died after the death of her thirteenth child. After the death of Mumtaj Mahal in her memory Shah Jahan decided to make the Taj Mahal. Which is now forefront as the best tourist place in India.
The construction of the Taj Mahal started around 1632’s and was completed in 1653.
Taj Mahal is surrounded by beautiful gardens around it. The thing which makes it more beautiful is that it is built on the beach of river Yamuna. Just behind the Taj Mahal, the beautiful Yamuna flows.
Basically, the Taj Mahal was built on the graveyard of Mumtaj. Later after the death of Shah Jahan, his graveyard was also placed just beside the Mumtaj Mahal.

2. Golden Temple [Amritsar, Punjab]
Golden Temple is situated in Amritsar which is in Panjab. Golden Temple is also known as Harmandir which stands for “Temple Of God”. Golden Temple is called Darbar Harmandir Sahib. Golden Temple is the central gurudwara for Sikhs from all over India. People from other castes and from all over India are also devoted to Golden Temple.
Golden Temple is built with white marble and is coated with a gold plate. It is situated in the center of the pond. This pond is filled with the water of the Ganga.
The construction of the Golden Temple was done by Guru Raam Das in 1577. In 1604 since the construction of the temple was completed but the gold plating was done by Maharaj Ranjit Singh in the 1830s. This is how Golden Temple completed its construction and became a favorite tourist place for Indian or worldwide tourists.
3. Fatehpur Sikri [Agra, UP]
Fatehpur Sikri is another tourist place situated in Agra in Uttar Pradesh. It was founded by the Mughal emperor Akbar in 1569 and was the capital city of the Mughal Empire. It is one of the best collections of Mughal architecture in India.
Fatehpur Sikri is made up of red stone. It is covered by 6 kilometers of a wall from its three sides. And on one of it three walls Buland Darwaza was made on the south wall.
Buland Darwaza is about 550 meters high. It was built around the late 1576’s which showed the victory of Akbar.
4. Ooty [Tamil Nadu]
Otty is situated in Tamil Nadu which is the southernmost part and a popular tourist destination in India. It is situated in the Nilgiri Hills. It is the most famous hill station in India. The economy of Ooty depends on agriculture and tourism.
Ooty is also known as Udhagamandalam. It is the capital of the Nilgiri district. It is also called “Queen Of Hill station”. Ooty is famous for its climate. It is better to visit Ooty between November to April.
The places that we can see in Ooty are Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, Ooty Lake, HPF (Hindustan Photo Film), Glenmorgan, Emerald Lake, Kalhatty Water Fall, Ketti Valley View and etc.
5. Darjeeling [West Bengal]
Darjeeling is situated in West Bengal. Darjeeling is very famous for its tea garden and its natural beauty. It is one of the famous hill stations and that’s why a popular tourist destination in northern India. It is also famous for educational purposes since it contains different British-style public schools.
Darjeeling is famous for its sunrise. People from all around the world come here to see the famous sunrise. This is very pleasant to be viewed from Tiger Hill. It is best to visit Darjeeling between April to November since after these months savior winter starts.
There are many more places to visit in Darjeeling. These are Rock Garden, St Andrew Church, Tea garden, Mahakal Temple and etc.
6. Dal Lake [Kashmir]
Dal Lake is situated in Srinagar, which is the city of Kashmir. Srinagar is the summer capital of Kashmir. It is also known as the “Heaven On Earth”.
It is surrounded by the Himalayas and is very famous for its houseboats also known as Shikaras. Dal Lake gives a very pleasant view of the floating garden and floating vegetable market. It looks so colorful and attracts many visitors.
The depth of the lake varies from 20 ft to 8.2 ft. and is surrounded by mountains from its three sides.
7. Ajanta And Ellora Caves [Maharashtra]
Ajanta And Ellora are the famous caves of Maharashtra. Ajanta caves are famous for its painting and Ellora caves are famous for its sculptures. The rock cuts of these caves are world famous and show the art of people hundred years ago. So, it also can be a great tourist destination for all Indians.
These caves were discovered in the 19th century. There are 30 caves in Ajanta. Whole carving work was completed in 600 years. Ellora contained 34 caves. It contains the Buddhist Chaityas temple.
8. Valley Of Flower [Uttrakhand]
Valley Of Flower is located in the Himalayas. It is famous for its natural beauty and colorful surrounding. Now it has been converted into a national park. It is 3,500m above sea level. The waterfall and snow-capped mountains make it more beautiful.
The whole valley is covered with flowers that is the region why it is called the “Valley Of Flower”. In this valley, there are about 500 varieties of flowers.
9. Jantar Mantar [New Delhi]
Jantar Mantar is a widely popular tourist destination situated in the capital city of India, New Delhi. It consists of 13 architectural astronomical instruments. This instrument specifies the movement of the sun, moon, and planets.
There are various instruments in the Jantar Mantar among these some of them are:-

10. Lotus Temple [New Delhi]
Along with the Jantar Mantar, Lotus Temple is also located in New Delhi as the best tourist destination. It is also known as the “House Of Worship”. It has been modeled in the shape of a lotus flower. Thousands of visitors come and visit here every day. People from all castes and creeds come here for worship.
