Save Money on New Laptop

One day I went to my study table and turned on my laptop to continue my routine work but I was in shock after hearing a loud beeping sound. That loud beeping sound was coming from my laptop.

I was nervous and unable to understand what was happening to my laptop and what should I do. Without understanding anything I turned off my laptop and restarted it. But it made a beeping sound again and again on startup.

To solve this problem I contacted one of my seniors. I discussed with him the problem that I was going through. After listening to my problem and without wasting time he said that the problem of a beeping sound from laptops is very common. This problem may happen with any laptop belonging to different companies. But there may be different reasons behind this problem.

Some of the problems behind the loud beeping sound coming from the laptop are as follows:

1. Beeping Sound With a Blank Background

Many times it happens that when you turn on your laptop it starts making a beeping sound with a blank background. This type of problem may happen due to errors or problems that arise as you start your laptop. This error or problem may be due to the different failures like:

  • system board failure
  • ROM error
  • memory slot failure
  • CMOS battery failure
  • video card or chip failure
  • processor failure
  • LCD failure

These are also called error codes. Try to get rid of these failures to stop the beeping noise coming from your laptop.

2. Beeping Sound with the Spacebar Not Working

It may happen that your laptop starts with a beeping sound and the spacebar is not working. This is a common problem that happens or may happen with any laptop now and then. Basically stuck key makes a beeping sound.

This means that your laptop emits a beeping sound normally when you turn on your laptop. The reason behind the stuck key is the dirt that gathers inside the buttons of your keyboard.  So clean the dust with the help of cotton balls or anything else that you usually use.

Even after performing these steps if your laptop is making a beeping sound then take it to the service center and get it serviced. Servicing your laptop may help you to get rid of the beeping sound coming from your laptop.

  1. My ThinkPad laptop makes a beeping noise on Startup and the background isn’t blank and none of the keys are stuck. It beeped just now when I unplugged and plugged it back in.

    • Hey Ellaine,

First of all try solving out the issues mentioned above that causes this beep sound issue. If nothing helps, you should take your PC to service center.

      • It doesn’t follow the others issues. it’s random and does not seem to be bothering the computer in any way after it does it’s beeping it’s ME that has the issue. So, take out the battery? and put it back in? Do I do that with the computer on or off? plugged in or not? sorry, I’m not very good at these things.
        Thank you for your help!!

  4. Very helpful tips but I’m just able to understand the problem, can’t solve. In my laptop the beeping problem was because of mother board problem and it is costing me near 10K to buy a new motherboard.

    • Hey,
Rather than buying a new motherboard, you may instead repair the old one from your nearest laptop repairing center.
If it’s not possible to repair, buying the new one is the only option.
Let me know what else I can help you with.
      Thanks.
