How to Check if Your Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit

So, without taking more time, I’m simply telling you the steps by which you can know the system type of your Windows computer.

They are actually two methods to know if your system is 32-bit or 64-bit:

Method 1: Check Through Basic System Information

You can check if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit through the basic system information window. Go to Start, right-click on the Computer option and choose Properties.

Select Computer Properties

As soon as you click on Properties, the basic system information window will open. Here, under the System section, you can check your system type.

What’s the Difference Between 32-bit & 64-bit?

Bit is short for Binary Digit, the smallest unit of information on a machine. When we talk about computers, they’re sometimes classified by the number of bits (as we know like 32-bit & 64-bit, etc.).

Let me tell you in a more simple way. If your computer is 32-bit, it means it can process the 32 bits at one time, and similarly for 64-bits.

So, the terms 32-bit and 64-bit are referred to to understand how a computer’s processor handles the information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system.

Check if Your Computer Can Run a 64-bit Version of Windows

If you’re thinking of upgrading your computer from a 32-bit to a 64-bit operating system, you must check first whether or not your PC is capable of upgrading to 64-bit.

You can check it easily. Just open My Computer, right-click on the screen, and choose Properties. Now, in the System Information window, click on the Windows Experience Index link.
