Microsoft is going to end the support for its most popular operating system Windows 7. So, after the date of 13th January 2015, you won’t get any type of security updates, software updates, etc. and Microsoft will not guarantee the hacking and virus attacks on the Windows 7 operating system after ending the support.

As previously Microsoft has also ended the extended support of its Windows XP operating system on 8 April 2014. Now it’s time to stop mainstream support for Windows 7!

Ending Only Mainstream Support Not The Extended

Windows 7 Support Ending

Windows 7 mainstream support is ending and users will face the same problems which came when Windows XP support was ended. So, all the private and government systems that work on Windows 7 should beware of hacking and virus attacks.

However, only mainstream support is ending and extended support will be available till 2020. However, users must pay for extended support in the Windows 7 operating system.

What Does it Mean by Ending Mainstream Support?

The meaning of ending mainstream support in Windows 7 is the ending of many free services that are extremely needed to properly run the operating system.

So, after ending the mainstream support, users of Windows 7 OS must pay money for every essential update except security updates.

Mainstream Vs Extended Support

Windows XP ended its mainstream support on 14 April 2009 and extended support on 8 April 2014. So, when the company ends the mainstream support, then big government and non-government organizations pay money to the company to continue some of the software updates. That’s why the company is going to end Windows 7 mainstream support on 13th January 2015 but extended support will be available for more than 5 years.

Some of the Bad Effects of Ending Mainstream Support

Some of the most dangerous effects of ending mainstream support of Windows 7:

  • The new version of browsers won’t support the Windows 7 operating system
  • If you use old browsers, then you might undergo security damage
  • The system can easily be hacked while surfing the Internet
  • You might remove the Java plug
  • The great danger of viruses and malware

So, in these conditions your PC will run but the danger of hacking will be increased at a huge rate. In such conditions, antivirus may help to avoid viruses and malware on your PC.

After ending the mainstream support the extended support will also be ended on 14th January 2020. Not only this but in October 2014, the validity of Microsoft Office 2010 service pack 1 will also finish.
