Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus VS Motorola Edge 30 Ultra

This is the comparison between the only two 200MP camera smartphones in the world. Yes, you read it right. As of now, these are the only two smartphones with 200MP cameras. The first one is the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, which we reviewed previously. And now the second 200MP camera smartphone from Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus came into existence.

And you know the interesting part? Both smartphones have a noteworthy price difference of around 35,000 rupees. The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra costs 59,999 INR and‌ the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus comes at the price of RMB 2,199 (roughly 24,000 INR). However, we don’t have official information about the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus price in India, as it is only launched in China so far.

Despite such a price difference, there are many features where the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus has many similar, even better features than the Moto Edge 30 Ultra. We will discuss all the differences further in this comparison of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus and Motorola Edge 30 Ultra.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus Vs Motorola Edge 30 Ultra: Features Comparison

Apart from the 200MP primary camera and OLED display, both smartphones are having differences in terms of features like battery, processor, charger, design, etc. Here, we will discuss all of them so that you can find the best smartphone among Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus and Motorola Edge 30 Ultra.

Design

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ has a 3D arc design, a punch-hole top center-mounted front camera, a glass back, and a matte finish camera module with two big and one small camera lens. Moreover, there is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the volume rockers on the left side and it also has a 3.5mm audio jack.

On the other hand, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra comes with front & back 3D corning, anti-fingerprint coating metal back, a top center mounted front camera, a bumped camera module on the backside with one big & two small camera lenses, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. And unlike the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, it has an in-display fingerprint sensor and doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack.

As the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is a premium flagship smartphone, it has a superb in-hand feel and rich looks. Whereas, you will miss this thing in Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. However, it is praiseworthy in its segment but can’t compete with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra in hand feel and looks.

Display

The latest launch Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus has a 6.67-inches OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2400×1080 pixels resolution. Whereas, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra comes with a 6.67-inches display, which has a 144Hz refresh rate and 2400×1080 pixels resolution.

Here you can see both devices have an equal size OLED display with the same resolutions. But, the 144Hz refresh rate of the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra makes it the winner in terms of refresh rate.

However, 120Hz is more than enough in the price range of Redmi Note 12 Pro+ because the maximum smartphones in this price range like Realme Narzo 50 Pro and OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G have only a 90Hz refresh rate.

Performance

The performance specs of Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus are Octa Core MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor, Android 12 operating system, and 8GB/12GB RAM + 256GB storage variants.

On the other hand, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra has performance specs like Octa Core Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, Android 12 operating system, and 8GB RAM + 128GB/256G storage, 12GB RAM + 256GB/512GB storage variants.

The processor of Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is the latest and one of the best processors in Android smartphones as of now. Whereas the Media Tek Dimensity 1080 processor in Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is an average processor that generally comes in this price range of smartphones.

So, for sure, you will see a noticeable difference in the performance of both smartphones. The Moto Edge 30 Ultra will give you a better gaming experience, faster speed, and a smooth user experience than the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.

Camera

The first one, Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, features a setup of triple rear cameras with a 200MP primary sensor (f/1.65 aperture), 8MP UltraWide, and 2MP Macro sensor. Moreover, on the front side, the smartphone has a 16MP camera sensor.

Second, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra also has triple cameras on the rear. And the sensors are a 200MP primary sensor (f/1.9 aperture), 50MP UltraWide, and 12MP Macro. And it has a 60MP sensor as the front camera.

Although both smartphones have a 200MP primary rear camera, you can see the differences in the lenses’ aperture. The primary camera lens of Motorola Edge 30 Ultra has a larger aperture than the Note 12 Pro Plus. And the larger aperture means better photography.

Along with the larger aperture, you can see noticeable differences between the UltraWide and Macro lenses of Motorola Edge 30 Ultra and Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. Overall, the photography experience will be far better with Moto Edge 30 Ultra than with the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.

Battery and Charger

The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus gets the battery backup from a 5000mAh battery. And has a 120W charger to charge the huge battery. On the other hand, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra has a 4610mAh battery and 125W charger that can charge the battery quickly.

No doubt, in terms of battery backup, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is better than the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra as it has a more powerful battery. Whereas, the Moto Edge 30 Ultra has a faster charger with 5W more power that can charge the battery quicker than the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.

Connectivity

Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus and Motorola Edge 30 Ultra support almost the same connectivity features like dual 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, Galileo, Glonass, AGPS, and many others.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus Vs Motorola Edge 30 Ultra: Final Verdict

Throughout the features comparison of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus and Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, we find both phones outperform each other on different parameters. Somewhere, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is better, or somewhere the other one is better.

Like, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus has the same type of display, the same 200MP primary camera sensor, and a more powerful battery than the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. On the other hand, the Edge 30 Ultra has a better refresh rate, a top-of-the-line processor, and better UltraWide, Macro, and front camera sensors.

Now, it’s up to you, your budget, and your purpose for buying the phone. If you have a budget of around 20,000 INR, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is the best in this segment. Also, it is a good option if you have normal uses of the smartphone or you don’t require that much performance, gaming durability, etc.

But, if you are looking for a true premium flagship smartphone that can give you the best gaming experience, superb photography experience with numerous camera features, and no performance lack, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra can be a better choice.
