A few days ago, I went through a weird incident with my IRCTC account. When I tried to download my Indian Railways ticket from my IRCTC account, I got an error message, “User is disabled.”
I tried to log in to my IRCTC account multiple times, even on different devices but couldn’t log in. Every time I got the same error message, “User is disabled.”
I understood that IRCTC had deactivated my Indian Railways account for some reason. But, the big question for me was how to enable it on the same day.
This is because I booked an Indian Railways ticket from my IRCTC account but forgot to note down the PNR of my waiting list ticket. But, when I tried to log in on the day of boarding, I couldn’t due to the above-mentioned error message.
Believe me guys, I tried all the shortcuts like calling the Indian Railways customer support and leaving an email to the IRCTC support but nothing fixed the issue. Then luckily I found a method that activated my IRCTC user ID within just a few hours, which I’m going to share below in this article.
How to Enable Disabled IRCTC User ID or Account?
Enabling your disabled IRCTC user ID is the easiest task. All you need to know is the right process. I tried leaving an email and contacting their phone support but nothing worked. Eventually, I found the right method to reach them and it worked. Follow the steps below:
Step 1. Go to IRCTC eQuery Page
Go to the IRCTC eQuery page and log in through your registered phone number or email ID. Yes, here you’ll be able to log in using the OTP that will be received on your registered phone number or email ID (whichever you use to log in).
Step 2. Choose Related Categories
Now, to raise a query, choose the Profile related issue category and User ID Deactivated / Suspected as your sub-category. And then click on the Raise a Concern button as shown in the screenshot below.
Step 3. Provide Necessary Details
A popup will open along with a description box. Describe the issue you are facing and provide all the profile-related details like your IRCTC User ID, password, registered phone number, etc. Also, you can attach the screenshot of the error message you got at the time of login.
That’s all. They probably won’t ask anything else and your query will be resolved within a few hours. In my case, I received an email after 4 hours of raising the request that my query be resolved. It means my IRCTC user ID was enabled again and I was able to log in.

Why is My IRCTC User ID Disabled? [6 Possible Reasons]
When this incident happened, the very first question that came into my mind was “Why is my IRCTC user ID disabled?” And, I am sure you must be thinking about that too.
In order to not get suspended again in the future, you should avoid the following 6 possible reasons why IRCTC disables the user IDs.
- Not logging into the IRCTC account for a long duration.
- Entering the incorrect email, password, or PIN multiple times.

- Suspicious booking activity such as booking multiple tickets in a short period of time.

- Violating IRCTC Terms of Service such as creating multiple accounts.
