Google Maps toll price and other updates

Recently, Google added a bunch of new features and some add-on updates on Google Maps. The new features, including toll prices and more detailed navigation, were announced on 5th April 2022 through a press release. Moreover, the company announced some updates on iOS.

Google said that the updated and new features will help the users to use the Google Maps more efficiently. Also added in the statement that the new features will let the users make their trip planning with more exact details of their routes and tolls. Nonetheless, let’s understand these newly added features in Google Maps.

What are the Newly Added Features in Google Maps?

Let’s check out what are these new updates by Google Maps and why are they important for everyone.

1. Toll Prices and Avoid Tolls

The first new feature, Toll Prices, is to inform you of toll prices. This is the first time when Google Maps will tell you the estimated toll prices of your destination route. Not only the exact price but also it will update you about toll prices according to payment methods and specific times of toll crossing. However, the feature is rolling out in 2000 toll roads in the U.S., India, Indonesia, and Japan for Android and iOS.

Along with toll prices, Google added the Avoid Tolls feature as well. This one will help you to find your destination route without any toll. So, if you don’t like to pay tolls, it will make you pleasant. Moreover, to find a route without any toll on Google Maps, look for three dots in the top right corner beside the search menu in Google Maps and click on that. Open the Route option and then select the Avoid Tolls option.

2. Detailed Navigation

Secondly, Google updated the navigation system with more details. After rolling out this update, you will be able to see more details about your route and area. Google Maps will show you the traffic lights, stop signals, roadside building outlines, and the road width & shape.

Moreover, this update will solve the problems like lane changing and turn missing, which you face at the new locations and on unfamiliar roads. Nonetheless, the updated feature will start rolling in a few next weeks on iOS, Android, Car Play, and Android Auto in selected countries and cities.

3. Updates For iOS

Additionally, Google added some updates only for iOS users. The first one is the Google Maps shortcut with tiny search widgets. It will help you to see your trip information like departure & arrival times, suggested routes, and directions from your iOS home screen. Also, it allows you to search on Google Maps directly from your iOS home screen.

The second iOS update is Apple watch connectivity with Google Maps. It will let you navigate from your Apple watch. Also, it will show you the route directions if you have set any trip on Google Maps.

And the third one is Siri and shortcuts integration with Google Maps. With the help of this update, you can set a shortcut for Google Maps in your iOS and give commands to operate Google Maps through Siri. Google mentioned that this feature will be available on Google Maps in the upcoming months.
