I’m sure you would be enjoying the virtual backgrounds in your Zoom meetings using its desktop client. And, fortunately, you’ll now be able to change your background in Zoom for Android too.

Actually, Zoom in September 2020 with its latest update for Android introduced some interesting features including Virtual Background support.

It’s good news for all Zoom Android users as they can now hide the messy work-at-home room behind a virtual background and enjoy the Zoom meeting without letting anybody know about their place and surroundings. Isn’t it great? So, let’s know how to get the Zoom virtual background working on your Android phone.

Here’s How to Change Your Background in Zoom Android

Now, even on Android smartphones, you can enjoy a Zoom meeting with a virtual background for a much more interactive and clean meeting. To change your background in Zoom, you must first join a meeting or start a new meeting. It means, that every time you join a meeting, you will have to opt-in to apply the virtual background.

Let’s know how you can change your background in your Zoom Android app during a meeting:

  • First of all, update your Zoom app for the latest version or fresh install from Google Play.
  • Once, you have got the latest Zoom app version, open it, and join or start a meeting.
  • When you’re in a meeting and the video is switched on, tap the “More” icon with three dots at the bottom right of the screen.
  • In the pop-up that appears, you’ll see the “Virtual Background” option. Tap on it.

  • On the next pop-up, default background options will be visible to choose from.
  • You can also use your own background from the gallery by hitting the “+” button.

That’s all about using a virtual background for your Zoom meeting in Android. At this time, the virtual background feature for Android supports only photos. Any video or moving background cannot be used as a virtual background.

Zoom Virtual Background For Android Not Working For You?

Are you not able to see any option for Virtual Background in your Zoom app for Android even after updating the app? You’re not alone. This happened to many other Android users. Actually, this new feature of the Zoom Android app is not working on every Android device.

Even after updating the Zoom app to the latest version, the Virtual Background option doesn’t appear in the pop-up on some devices. I’ve checked this out on some devices that this option isn’t appearing even after updating the Zoom app.

Well, this is not officially confirmed why this is not working in some devices even after introducing for all Android users but it seems this is because of the performance issues. It might need a smartphone with powerful specifications like a high processor and RAM for it to work.

In order to make sure if this is true, you can try enabling this feature in any of your powerful smartphones, I’m sure you’ll see the Virtual Background option in the pop-up. Whereas the mid-range devices may not have this option. At least, at this point in time.

What do you think about it? Did it work on your device? Are you able to see the Virtual Background option in the Settings pop-up on your Zoom app? If so, don’t forget to mention in the comments box which device you’re using.
