POCO C55

The entry-level smartphone market has been on its boom in the last year. Many smartphone companies are coming up with new entry-level smartphones like Lava Yuva 2 Pro. This time, a gaming phone POCO C55 is launched for under 10,000 Rupees by the Xiaomi-owned midrange smartphone brand, POCO.

POCO C55 is coming into the market with highlighted features like a 50 MP rear camera, an Octa-core 2GHZ processor, a large display, and a good enough battery life. Nonetheless, the detailed features of POCO C55 are mentioned in the article below. So, let’s see if the POCO C55 meets the requirements of a gaming smartphone or not.

Design & Dimensions

At first sight, POCO C55 looks like a premium smartphone that comes with a leather-like backside panel with a stitching line in the center. Alongside there is a huge camera block with POCO badging that gives the smartphone a premium look. And the fingerprint scanner is also installed in the camera panel.

On the front side, the smartphone has a punch-hole selfie camera. The volume rockers and power buttons are on the right side, along with the SIM card tray tool on the left side. Moreover, you will find a speaker with a charging port on the bottom side and a microphone with a headphone jack on the top.

And the color variants that you can choose in the POCO C55 are; Green Forest, Power Black, and Cool Blue. The dimensions are 168.76*76.41*8.77mm (Height*width*thickness) with 192 g weight.

Performance

POCO badged this new entry-level smartphone comes with the Android 12 Operating system and MediaTek Helio G85 octa-core processor, which is not bad in this price range. At the same time, this chipset is not capable enough to give a seamless gaming experience.

Secondly, it has 4GB/6GB LPDDR4X RAM that is available in two storage variants; 64 GB and 128 GB. Apart from that, the company mentioned that the storage of POCO C55 is expandable up to 1TB, and RAM up to 5GB.

Talking about charger and battery in POCO C55. At this price range, the battery that POCO C55 has, 5000 mAh, is commendable. The battery backup will not let you regret buying this smartphone. But, its charger, which is only 10W, could be better than this. Also, a Micro USB charging cable instead of a Type-C is a drawback.

Display

Like other smartphones in this segment, the POCO C55 has a Full HD display which is huge (6.71 inches) in terms of size. Its display has a 720*1600 resolution and a 1500:1 contrast ratio. Apart from that, the POCO C55 is claimed to have a scratch-resistant display.

The display feature that disappoints is its 60Hz refresh rate. This refresh rate is not even enough. At least it should have a 90Hz refresh rate that can give a seamless user experience. Alongside the smartphone offers a touch sampling rate of 120Hz.

Camera

Talking about the rear camera of POCO C55, the smartphone has a 50 MP dual camera with AI-integrated technology. And the rear camera of POCO C55 can record 1080P videos at 30FPS and has features like Google Lens, Time Lapse, Night Mode, Portrait Mode, Movie Frame, Voice Shutter, etc.

This 50 MP rear camera would be the feature for which you can buy the POCO C55. Among all its other rivals, it is one of the smartphones that come with a 50 MP rear camera. But, its selfie camera is only 5MP which is not praiseworthy. There should be at least a 13MP front camera. Nonetheless, some of its features are HDR, Voice Shutter, Palm Shutter, and Beauty Mode.

Connectivity Feature

The new gaming smartphone under 10,000 Rupees, POCO C55, supports 4G network connectivity. Again, not supporting 5G is its drawback because over time the 5G network is rolling out everywhere. So, a new launching smartphone should support a 5G network.

And the other connectivity features of POCO C55 are dual band 5G Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, etc. Afterward, the following are some other features of POCO C55.

  • IP 52 splash resistant.
  • Oleophobic coating.
  • Light Sensor.
  • Proximity Sensor.

Price of POCO C55

The starting price of POCO C55 is 9,499 INR, and it is for its 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. And the price of its 6GB RAM + 128GB storage is 10,999 INR. According to the collected data from its sales page, the price can be increased up to 11,999 INR for the 4GB variant and 13,999 INR for the 6GB variant.

Availability of POCO C55

As of now, the smartphone is not available to buy. The POCO C55 is scheduled to be available from 28th February 2023. And, in the initial time, the sale will go live only on Flipkart. After some time, you will be able to buy on its official website and some other online shopping websites.

Is POCO C55 Worth Buying For Gaming?

A gaming phone is required to have some basic features like a refresh rate of 120Hz (at least), a large screen, long battery life, an audio jack, a good enough fast charger, and last but not least, seamless performance.

Matching all these features in POCO C55, we find that the smartphone has some of these features, but somewhere it lacks them. POCO C55’s features that match with a gaming phone are a good enough touch sampling rate, long battery life, an audio jack, and a large screen. But what about the rest of the features?

The phone has only a 60HZ refresh rate, a below-average performing chipset, and a slow charger. These features are drawbacks of POCO C55 as a gaming smartphone. So, Yes, we can’t call it a proper gaming phone. I will suggest you look for smartphones in the higher segment smartphones that offer a refresh rate of 120Hz, the required chipset, and a fast charger.
