You can easily add a welcome message to your Windows 10 and 11 computer by editing your Windows registry. However, we all know that editing Windows registry is a very risky task so you have to be careful about that while editing it. A little mistake may lead to a crash or corrupt your whole Windows.
I will tell you a step-by-step procedure to set up a greeting message on your computer.
Step-by-Step Guide to Add Welcome Text on Windows 10/11
Press the Windows Key + R, enter regedit in the search box, and hit enter. When you click on ‘regedit’, it’ll ask for administrator permission to make changes to your computer. So give the permission by clicking on the Yes button.
Now registry editor appears in front of you. In the left pane of the registry editor, navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
After that one by one navigate to these keys:
SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Now, on the right side, you will see the character strings “legalnoticecaption” and “legalnoticetext”. If you don’t see any such strings, create them by right-clicking on the blank screen at the right side panel, and selecting New > String Value.
Now, once you have both of these strings, double-click on “legalnoticecaption”, define the title for the greeting message, and enter the actual message by clicking on “legalnoticetext”.
Finally, close the registry editor and restart your PC. Now, after restarting your Windows PC or laptop, you’ll see the effect that your welcome message has been set up.
