I tried a few methods myself in the settings on my laptop, researched on the internet, and finally after deep research, I was successfully able to set different kinds of clock screensavers on my Windows 10 laptop.
I thought many people must be looking for such kind of clock or digital clock screensaver for their Windows 10/11 computers and then decided to write down a complete guide to help people easily set clock as screensaver on Windows 11/10 computers.
In this article, I am sharing two methods to set a clock screensaver in Windows computers. One of these methods is the default clock screensaver and another method requires downloading an external screensaver (which is quite popular).
What is Screensaver?
When there is no movement on the computer screen for a certain time, some animated images or texts appear. The feature that displays those images or animations is called screensaver.
When computers were first invented, users faced the problem of screen burn, where the screen would turn black and stop working. Later, companies found in research that the reason for this was that the computer screen remained in a stable position with no movement for a certain time.
To deal with this problem, the screensaver feature started being installed on computers and laptops. This feature was designed in such a way that whenever there is no activity on the computer screen, this feature gets activated, and moving images or animated texts start playing on the screen. This feature remains activated until the user starts using the computer again.
However, this problem does not occur in new-age computers and laptops. Still, the screensaver feature continues as users find it interesting. Nonetheless, let’s move towards the topic and talk about how to set the clock screensaver on Windows.
How to Set Clock As Screensaver on Windows 10 & 11 Operating Systems
There are multiple methods that allow us to set clock as a screensaver on Windows 11 and 10 computers. We can start from the default clock screensaver that comes with every Windows PC. After that, we can explore other methods, where we will add external clock screensavers.
Let’s start with the first method to set clock as screensaver on Windows 10 and 11.
Step 1. Turn on your Windows laptop and right-click on the desktop.
Step 2. Tap on the Personalize option.
Step 3. Windows personalization settings will open with multiple options. You have to choose the Lock Screen option here. However, due to the different interfaces of Windows 10 and 11 operating systems, you may find some options at different places.
For example, in the Windows 11 operating system, you will find this Lock Screen option in the center of the screen with Background, Colors, Themes, and other options.
Whereas in Windows 10, you will find it in the left-side menu as shown in the screenshot below.
Step 4. In this newly appeared screen, jump to the Screensaver option.
Here is how you will see the Screensaver option in Windows 11.
On the same location and with a different interface, you will find the Screensaver settings option at the bottom of the screen in Windows 10 as shown in the following screenshot.
Note: From here, the steps and their interface in Windows 10 and 11 are the same.
Step 5. A small dialogue box of screensaver settings will open. Here, you can see a dropdown box in the middle side. Open that dropdown menu. It will show you multiple options, including 3D Text, Blank, Bubble, etc. Choose the 3D Text option.
Step 6. After choosing the 3D Text option, tap on Settings, which you can find on the right side of the dropdown menu. Meanwhile, you can also preview the screensaver with the help of the Preview option. On the 3D Text Settings box, you will see two choices; Time and Custom Text. Choose the Time and tap on the OK button.
Before pressing the OK button, you can explore the multiple options there, which are all about the customization of clock screensaver text. You can change fonts, texture, size, rotation speed of text, etc.
Step 7. Now, you have finally set the clock screensaver for your Windows laptop or PC. But, along with setting the screensaver, you have to set the waiting time as well. This waiting time will define after how much time, the screensaver starts.
You will find this waiting time option just below the screensaver dropdown menu as shown in the screenshot attached in the 5th step. Set a preferred time and you can also check the box On resume, display logon screen if you want your computer to ask you to log in again after you start using your laptop/PC after the screensaver. So, checking this box is optional.
After making all these changes, click the Apply button and then the OK button. Finally, you are done with setting the screensaver on your Windows 10/11 PC.
But the screensaver we have set is very basic and we have no other built-in options in Windows. What if anyone wants more attractive options for clock screensavers on Windows? Even I was not happy with this default clock screensaver, so I searched for some third-party alternatives. Let’s see how you also can download and set a more attractive time screensaver for your Windows 11 and 10.
